What it is
The Budget page shows one year at a time. You split the year into programs, such as Food security, Education and youth or Health, and give each a budget. CorpHands then adds up every donation recorded against each program and shows what is committed, what is paid and what is left.
Spending comes only from your donation register, which is backed by charity receipts. Money goes directly from your company to registered charities; CorpHands only records it. Because request scoring looks at budget left, an up-to-date budget also makes your request scores more accurate.
Groups that work in several countries can give each program a Country, and on Enterprise with brands, a Brand. The Budget page then adds By country and By brand summaries of budget against committed and paid spend, and you can filter the page and the export to one country or brand.
What you can use it for
- Set this year's total CSR budget as a set of programs.
- Watch each program's bar turn amber above 95% used and red above 100%.
- Plan next year by switching to it with the year tabs and adding programs early.
- Show management four headline numbers: Total budget, Committed and paid, Paid and Remaining.
- Give requests a better budget score by keeping program names close to your focus areas.
- Compare budget and spend by country or by brand across a group of companies.
How to do it
Set up programs
- Open the yearGo to CSR workspace → Budget and pick the year with the year tabs at the top.
- Add a programClick + Add program, enter the Name and the Budget, then click Add.
- Adjust laterClick Edit on a program row to change its name or budget, or delete it.
Track spending against the budget
- Record donationsApproved requests appear automatically as committed donations. Add other donations under + Record a donation.
- Mark paymentsWhen the charity's receipt arrives, click Mark paid on the donation and add the receipt.
- Read the tableEach program shows Budget, Committed, Paid, a progress bar and what is left.
Tips and good practice
- Give each program a country, and a brand if you use brands, so the By country and By brand summaries add up correctly.
- You can't delete a program that has donations. Move or delete those donations first.
- Name programs with clear words such as Food, Education, Environment, Health or Care. CorpHands uses the name to match new requests to a program for scoring.
- Amounts are in your company's currency, set by its country in Settings.
- Mark each payment as a Donation or Sponsorship. Sponsorship (the nonprofit promotes your company in return) is generally a business expense, not a charitable contribution, and the Giving and tax page keeps it out of the deduction estimate.
Questions
Does CorpHands hold or transfer our CSR money?
No. CorpHands never handles money. It records what your company committed and paid, with receipts.
What is the difference between Committed and Paid?
Committed means you have promised the amount, for example by approving a request. Paid means your company has paid it and you have recorded a receipt number or file.
Who can see the budget?
Owners and admins can change it. Auditors can view it. Coordinators do not have access.
Can I export the figures?
Yes. Use Export CSV on the donation register for the selected year and filters.
Can I split the budget by country or brand?
Yes. Set the country (all plans) and brand (Enterprise with brands) on each program. The page shows By country and By brand summaries and lets you filter by either.
