What it is

A campaign is a theme that holds several activities together for a period of time. Think of National Volunteering Week in May or a Christmas food appeal. You give the campaign a name, dates and an optional goal in volunteer hours, then link activities to it.

The campaign page adds up the results of its activities for you: approved hours, number of activities and people helped.

To save time, start from a template: National Volunteering Week (mid-May; the dates are set each year, so check them), Christmas giving (a food appeal collection and hamper packing), Back to school, World Environment Day, International Volunteer Day or a Blood donation drive. Each comes with suggested dates, an hours goal and suggested activities with their logistics checklists.

What you can use it for

  • Run National Volunteering Week with a team challenge with a local charity and a skills clinic for charities, with one shared hours goal.
  • Collect food for a food charity and pack Christmas hampers for families in a Christmas giving campaign.
  • Run a back-to-school collection or a World Environment Day clean-up with a shared goal.
  • Compare campaigns year on year by approved hours and people helped.

Tips and good practice

  • Only approved hours count towards the goal. Clear the queue in Hours approvals before you share campaign results.
  • If a campaign includes giving, your company pays the charity directly and records the donation in the budget. CorpHands does not collect money from employees or the public.
  • A Christmas food appeal is volunteering and in-kind giving; a cash donation to the charity is recorded separately in the budget, as a donation.
  • Fill in People helped on each activity after it ends, so the campaign total is complete.
