What it is

A campaign is a theme that holds several activities together for a period of time. Think of a Daan Utsav week with collection drives and NGO visits, a cleanliness fortnight around your offices and plants, or a back-to-school drive in June. You give the campaign a name, dates and an optional goal in volunteer hours, then link activities to it.

The campaign page adds up the results of its activities for you: approved hours, number of activities and people helped. Much of the CSR calendar in India is built around a few seasonal moments. Campaigns let you plan and report on each moment as one piece of work instead of a loose list of events.

To save time, start from a template: Daan Utsav (Joy of Giving Week) (2–8 October), Cleanliness drive (Swachhata Hi Seva fortnight) (15 September to 2 October), Independence Day volunteering (around 15 August), Back to school (June), World Environment Day, International Volunteer Day or Blood donation drive. Each comes with suggested dates, an hours goal and two to four suggested activities with their logistics checklists.

What you can use it for

  • Run Daan Utsav with a collection drive, a skills session at an NGO and a children's home visit, and one shared hours goal.
  • Join the Swachhata Hi Seva fortnight with clean-ups near every office and a waste segregation workshop at a school.
  • Plan Independence Day tree planting and a blood donation camp across sites with one progress bar.
  • Report a seasonal programme to management with approved hours, activity count and people helped in one place.

Tips and good practice

  • Only approved hours count towards the goal. Clear the queue in Hours approvals before you share campaign results.
  • Employee volunteering is not CSR expenditure under section 135. Campaign hours appear in your volunteering and BRSR figures, not in your 2% spending. If a campaign includes giving, record the payment to the NGO in the budget.
  • Fill in People helped on each activity after it ends, so the campaign total is complete.
